Course Description

Students will learn to make hand armatures from wire and floral tape. Then, using the armatures they have made, and also pre-made armatures, students will learn to model hands, both with and without armatures, using several of the new clays, and several different sculpting techniques.


Kit Contents—$20 Kit Fee ($50 Value) — payable to instructor in class

Samples of several types of new clay (cellulose and polymer), wire, floral tape, pre-made hand armature, Mimi's New Clays for Dollmaking (book), orange stick, sanding pads (4 grits), plastic bags for keeping clay dry and clean, and handouts. If the student already owns the book, kit fee is only $15.


Classroom Supplies (Provided by Mimi)

Sculpting tools, wire, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, floral tape, handouts, orange sticks, paper cups, acetone, alcohol, lemon oil, brushes, pliers, wire cutters.


Students Bring

Sculpting tools (only if owned, do not purchase for this class), paint brushes (1/2-inch to 3/4-inch flat), needle-nose pliers, small wire cutters, notebook and pencil for note taking.
