Pattern and body fabric will be sent to each student several weeks prior to class. Starting with the pre-sewn body students will learn how to work with wire to create a modular armature that will allow the doll to stand alone. Day two we will needle model and color the face and paint the legs and shoes. Day three we will assemble the doll and if time permits we will wig the doll and begin the undergarments.
Pattern for doll, under and outer wear, one yard quality, hand-dyed muslin, Dream-Seamer tool, Piecemakers 3-1/2" & 5" doll needles, John James #9 long darning needle, Airtex Premium stuffing, chenille stems for wiring fingers, 14 guage galvanized steel wire for armature.
Createx medium, paint & brushes, colored pencils, hemostats, wire cutters, pliers, Swiss and drapery thread.
Pre-sewn body parts, 5-1/2" and 8" straight hemostats, wire cutter, two needle- nosed pliers, paper scissors, 3x5 piece of heavy cardboard (back of pad of tracing paper or bristol board, teacher will have heavy scissors for cutting bristol board), Swiss Metrosene 100% polyester thread in a neutral color. Usual dollmaking supply kit.
